A post to say hi and stuff

I figured I should post a quick hello to get myself introduced and acquainted with some people here, since I am new. I got invited through Gaia (stupidly, I cannot remember the name of the person who invited me), and I'm really excited to be here. It's nice to see that there is a place online where people are actually serious about role-playing and don't cut corners when it comes to role-playing. I can't tell you how many times I've unintentionally gotten myself involved with people who think that it's perfectly acceptable to post a one-line response to a two paragraph post, and whose character development doesn't go beyond "they look like my avatar, and they are popular and they are really pretty and invincible." Hopefully I won't find any of that here.

Um ... I'm interested in modern fantasy and occult related role-plays, and some supernatural ones as well (vampires, demons and angels, futuristic type stuff and magic). Two of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to role-playing are profiles (because I think it's stupid for everyone to know everything about all the characters from the get-go, instead of getting to know them the same way our characters are), and profiles that require an image of a person's character (because it's the same as plagiarizing in my eyes- be creative and make up your own darn character).

Anyway, that turned out to be a rather longer introduction than I'd intended. I hope to find some awesome role-plays here, and I look forward to role-playing with some of you guys.

I know what you mean about hating profiles, though my peeve is more the fact that I can never come up with anything right away. Some of my characters tend to deviate anyway, even after I've come up with something for them!

Actually, yeah, it was Fate, now that I think about it. XD

And yeah, I agree with you there about characters deviating away from their profiles. My characters tend to be so fluid anyway, and if I use them enough, they eventually just get a mind of their own and I can't constrict them to a tiny box. ^^; And I've tried. XD

Haha, but those are the best characters. I've got one on Gaia who has ended up being made of a lot sterner stuff than I thought she'd be, and she's currently one of my favorites.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I love when my characters come to life like that. It does get a bit difficult to explain my attachment to them though, to people who either don't understand RPing, or who don't ever deal with the same characters for any length of time. I love getting that attached to my characters. They kinda become like friends at that point. 8D

EDIT And I checked out the link and it's actually an RP I was eyeing to begin with. XD I'll read through everything (I was just skimming before) and see if it's something I can get myself into. It seems really detailed, but I kinda like that.
